Blue tile explosions

More Shah-i-zinda photos. It's really difficult to pick what to show you, it was all so amazingly beautiful. This site looks quite unassuming from outside, but I believe those who claim it to have the finest and most varied tiling work in Central Asia (which is in itself quite an achievement). Some of it has been too heavily renovated though, but the colours and the work are exquisite.

The vaults are all tombs, mostly of the Timurid family.
